Mid-Night Terror Car Breakdown, Unexpected Visitor

Mid-Night Terror
Car Breakdown

One evening, far after midnight, a young couple was blissfully making their way home. After partying till the wee hours of the morning, they were both worn out and eager to return home and go to bed, the party's sounds still echoing in their ears.

Suddenly sensing that the night was not yet over, the lad hastily turned off the main route home. As it was, the road they were already on was fairly barren, encircled by dense forest foliage, but now he had selected a gravel one, with even thicker scrub that at times scraped down the sides of the ancient car they were driving. The gravel road appeared to have been abandoned for a considerable amount of time.

The girl asked where their new destination was after asking where they were heading when she woke up. The youngster acknowledged that he wanted to spend some "quality time" alone with his girlfriend and go for a little drive. He imagined a spot that would be quiet, isolated, and devoid of disturbances. The girl accepted the revised arrangements despite her exhaustion, since she knew the boy was too persistent for her to refuse.

They drove slowly along the freshly selected dirt road, with the dense dark night and surrounding bush completely obscured by the headlights of the cars. The automobile abruptly collided with an object on the road. The youngster instantly stopped and got out to explore, not understanding what it was.

"Oh No!"

He cried out upon seeing a big log jammed beneath. He looked over and saw that his old, worn-out car's engine was now releasing a sizable jet of smoke. The youngster kicked at the log, realizing that kicking alone wouldn't be enough to get it out from under his car. As he went back in the car and informed the girl what had happened, he thought,.

"Just my luck!"

With a wince, he tried to start the automobile, but since it was an early model from the 1970s, it protested a lot and eventually died before it even started. No matter how hard one tried, the automobile would not start correctly, even though the starting lights were on.

He gripped the worthless steering wheel in front of him and shook his head, saying, "I'm going to have to walk back to the main road for help." His final words were, "Stay in the car, and I'll be back soon." He hopped out of the car, hunched his shoulders, and ventured out into the night alone.

Too exhausted to bother accompanying him, the girl thought drowsily of how she might curl up in her passenger seat and dream while he was out obtaining help, even though she did not enjoy the notion of spending the rest of the night alone, out on a dirt road, god knows where. Regardless, he should be the one to go for assistance because it was his decision to come all the way out here.

For the brief moment she could see him in the side mirror, she watched him. He appeared to be engulfed by the darkness, and she silently questioned his foolishness in choosing this route. She hoped he would take some time to arrive so she could get some rest.

As they joyfully slept off, she worried how on earth he would locate aid since they had not seen any traffic on the main road and if he would return before daylight.

She abruptly woke up and started. "What was that?!" she said, her mind clouded by sleepiness, shaking her head as if something had shaken her awake during the night and then either went through or stopped. She could see nothing but blackness when she peered through the glass and into the side mirror. It was the quietest night of the year; hadn't she heard the sounds of the night before? Why in the world was everything so calm and still just now? Something had to have woken me up.

She immediately wished she had taken note of the moment her lover had gone for aid, as she felt tense, icy, and unsteady from being wrenched from such a deep slumber. As she looked at her watch, it appeared as though dawn would soon burst through the trees. By now, it was 4.40 a.m..

How long was he gone? It had to have been 2:10 or 2:00 in the morning, right? She began to turn back time to see if she could remember precisely when he had left for assistance. She gently told herself, "Well, whatever time it was, it was ages ago, and he should be coming back pretty soon."

Now that the night was dead calm, she could not believe how peaceful it was, and she felt very much like she was not alone. She prayed that her boyfriend would return with assistance because she was unable to see anything in front of or behind her. The darkness outside seemed to shift abruptly, causing goosebumps to appear on her arms and the hair on the back of her neck to stand up. She exclaimed aloud, "I must be going crazy," to no one in particular. When she finally had enough, she reached for the keys that were still in the ignition to try to turn on the headlights.

There was a loud "THUMP" on the car's roof as she extended to the driver's seat. She immediately leaped, almost striking her head on the roof, and cowered back into her seat. She was looking around frantically, but she was immediately frozen in place since she realized she had seen something move in the darkness outside the automobile.

"THUMP, THUMP".  Another huge boom erupted, and she let out a little cry. She was thinking nonstop about what to do, what was wrong, and how to get help. What in the world should I do when I'm alone in the dark here? "THUMP!" There it goes once more—someone is above!

She was alone; there was no aid, and tears of pure terror were streaming down her face. She was certain that there was a monster on the roof that was going to devour her.

Thumps again, again, again, thumps, thumps. She resolved not to be a sitting duck and to open the door and flee when the panic got the better of her. The monster could not have been able to look into the dense blackness of the night if she was unable to.

It was "THUMP THUMP THUMP THUMP" all throughout.

She was so terrified and confused that instead of making a dramatic getaway and running for it, she fell head first from the car and landed flat on her face in the dirt. She struggled with the lock (forgetting that she had previously locked all the doors) and the door handle, tears now streaming from her eyes and clouding her vision.

Bright lights burst into the room while she was trying to run and crawl at the same time. All she could see behind the lights were the black shadows and the bulbs. She heard someone speaking on a loud speaker and was quickly losing consciousness. Now that she was upright and dazed, all she could do was stagger ladylike in the direction of the brilliant lights. Even with her eyes shaded, she could still hear the voice, which seemed to be giving her some kind of instructions and had a very authoritative tone.

The voice repeated itself once more. "Lady, move away from your car towards us, and whatever you do, don't look back." Once more", "Ma'am, would you please continue moving towards us? Do not look back; face us and don't look back." She could only tumble in the direction of those dazzling lights now that she was about to pass out. She was suddenly able to see past the lights and was apprehended by a man in uniform, whom she recognized as being from the local police department. There were maybe ten or fifteen squad vehicles and twice that many police officers with their weapons drawn. She decided there was one final thing she needed to do before she passed out. She found it difficult to turn over and face the automobile.

There was something that looked like a monster—or maybe a person with deformities—on the car's roof. It laughed and slammed its stick against the car's top while drooling wildly and holding a big stick. She was aware that her boyfriend's head was at the end of the stick.
